Voice, video and recordings

We use WebRTC and Steam networking to share voice, in-game video and replays with other players. Networking services may relay traffic or process connection information, including IP addresses.

Call recordings and related transcripts are saved on your computer by default. On Windows, these are normally in the Videos subfolder of your Documents\Scam With Your Friends folder, commonly:

Turning off call saving still allows temporary recordings for in-game reviews. Saved footage can be replayed to other players, who may also record or share content they receive.

Speech recognition for AI conversations runs on your computer. AI conversation requests contain the resulting text, without microphone audio or gameplay video.

AI conversations

AI dialogue and boss reviews use transcribed speech, conversation history and game context. Our online services process this information and send it directly to DeepSeek or through OpenRouter to its model providers. It can include player display names and gameplay statistics. Boss reviews can also include searches and website names recorded by the in-game browser.

Model providers may retain submitted text and use it to improve or train their models, depending on their terms and the settings that apply. Request and response text may also be retained in troubleshooting logs. If a host uses their own OpenRouter API key, requests use that host's OpenRouter account.

Optional features

• Custom callers: Saving a custom caller syncs its description, artwork and custom voice sample through Steam Workshop. Turning off public listing makes the upload unlisted; it does not prevent uploading. Deleting a local caller does not automatically delete its Workshop item.
• Feedback: If you send a report, we receive your message, game and device diagnostics, and any files you select. Logs may include recent gameplay and conversation text, even without a video attachment. Attached recordings may contain players' voices or video. Reports and attachments are stored using Cloudflare. Deleting your local recording does not delete a copy already submitted in a report.
• Discord: If you link Discord for rewards or VIP features, we store the link between your Steam and Discord accounts and check relevant server membership or roles. Account-verification pages use essential session cookies.
• Websites: Sites opened in the in-game browser, and external support or donation sites, handle information under their own policies. Content displayed on your in-game screen may be visible to other players.

Account and service information

We process Steam identifiers and authentication information, connection details, and usage, error and security records to provide access, operate online features, troubleshoot problems and prevent abuse. Usage records can include AI request counts, model information and token usage. We also keep relevant past purchase and supporter-entitlement records.

Cloudflare and our other hosting and networking providers process information needed to deliver these services. Where applicable, we process information to perform our contract with you, pursue our legitimate interests in operating and securing the services, and meet legal obligations.

Storage and controls

You can remove locally stored files yourself. Deleting a video in the game does not currently remove its separate transcript file.

Our services and providers operate internationally, so information may be processed outside your country. Cloudflare's and OpenRouter's applicable standard data-processing agreements include safeguards for international transfers, including standard contractual clauses where applicable. Contact us for information about these arrangements.

You can control microphone access through your device settings and choose which recordings to attach to feedback. We cannot remove copies independently saved by other players.
